Our story.

Klaksvíkar Sleipistøð, commonly referred to as “Bedingin,” was originally established in 1928. It was founded by brothers J. F. Kjølbro and Dávur úr Gerðum, who purchased a slipway from Sweden. The slipway was transported to the Faroe Islands and placed at Ravnagil, where it remains today.

Later, Klaksvíkar Sleipistøð became part of the Kjølbro group. However, following the economic crisis in the early 1990s, 17 employees from Klaksvíkar Sleipistøð joined forces and established a private limited company in 1994. They acquired the assets of the slipway and resumed operations.

KSS acquired new owners in 2011. Its subsidiary, Búrhella, specializes in renting out pilot boats and crane trucks. In 2017, KSS took over the electro-mechanical workshop Johs.Elektro.

In 2019, KSS became a member of Danske Maritime.

Currently, around 70 employees work across KSS, Johs.Elektro, and Búrhella.
